Product Release Notes for Early February 2023

We have some exciting news to share with you this month.  Read on below.

Messages Now Available for each Application

We have just made messaging so much clearer and easier! Messages can now be sent and received by individual application. This will prevent the confusion caused by the previous messages function which grouped all messages for all applications together.

We have moved the messages you send between yourself and our Global Admissions team to the Applications page. If you go to the previous Messages area under Student Information, the ‘Go to Messages’ link will direct you to the Applications page.

The following image provides a view of the new look Applications page. Descriptions of each section are provided below.

  1. Applications List - Here you will find the list of applications your student has applied for. These are in order of how they were ranked in the Shortlist.

  2. Selected Application - This is the application you are currently viewing, as indicated by a vertical green line against the card.

  3. Active and Cancelled applications - In the image above, the active (current) list of applications is displayed. You can view cancelled applications by clicking the ‘Cancelled’ button. These are applications that have been removed from the shortlist.

  4. Details tab. This contains useful information about the status of the application and other important details.

  5. Messages tab - Each application has a Messages tab. This is where you go to send and receive messages to and from the Global Admissions and Visa teams.

Inside an Application's Messages tab

When you enter an application’s messages tab you will find all your messages from the previous Messages location sitting above a blue divider line. Any messages you send or receive from now will appear below the blue line.

You can send and receive messages in the same way as you used to. Note that green messages are those sent by you and grey messages are received from someone else. Each message includes the name of the sender and the date and time the message was sent.

We have added a great new feature to assist in the readability of the messages you send. You can now enter line breaks in the message. Use Shift+Enter on your keyboard to create a line break

Added to this is the ‘Watch/Watching’ feature. Watching an application means you are receiving notifications when messages about it are sent and received. To switch this feature on or off, click the ‘Watch/Watching’ button at the top, right of the Messages tab.

Updated Message Notifications

Message Notifications have also been adapted to the new way of accessing messages.

In the Messages notification panel, we show separate messages for each of the student’s applications. Each message shown has a header detailing the student, the institution and the course/program.

Message notifications with a red dot indicate the message has not yet been read. Message notifications with a grey dot indicate the message has been read. You can toggle between these states by clicking on the dot.

In all other ways, the message notifications function as they did in the previous format.

For further information about how to use notifications, see Using Notifications - Messages, Alerts and News.

Course Search Updates

Course Recommendations as you Search

As you select courses in Course Search by clicking the ‘Add to Shortlist’ button, you may notice a course recommendation pop-up at the top right of the page. This gives you the opportunity to consider other suitable course options you may have missed in your initial search.

The course displayed is a good fit with the courses you have selected for your student, matching closely to study area, destination, course level, course cost, grade and language requirements.

The recommended course can be added to the Shortlist, if desired. You can explore more information about the recommended course by clicking the course title of the course listing in the Shortlist page.

Please note: We also make similar recommendations in the Shortlist page. Sometimes the course recommended here may differ from the one shown in the Course Search. This is because there may be more than one suitable option to recommend for your student.

Course Level Filter Options Updated

To help you locate the best postgraduate courses for your students more easily, the Course Levels filter options have been updated to allow distinction between postgraduate courses that are either by research or by coursework (taught). This will ensure a more precise filtering experience.
